Meet the characters in our crazy family adventure! First of all there is me, Amy. Mother, wife, freelancer, and dreamer. I left my office job to begin this blog and start a new adventure for the family. I found my passion for traveling while studying abroad in Scotland my sophomore year in college. In addition to exploring Scotland, I was able to spend two weeks backpacking through mainland Europe with friends. We never had a plan for where we were going to stay or eat when we stepped off of the train. We played it by ear, and it was an amazing trip.
While in Scotland I met my husband of 16 years, Louie. We met in a pub on Valentine’s Day. I would have to say it was love at first sight. Once together, the only time we spent apart was the five months it took for Louie to save up to fly to America once my semester abroad was over. It was the longest five months of our life, and I would never want to be apart again.
Louie grew up in Scotland and had done a lot of traveling in his own country with his family. His first trip by plane was a trip to Amsterdam that the two of us took together soon after we had met. At that time, he was hooked. Louie has always been restless and ready for adventure. That is one of the things that I love about him so much. If not for him, I don’t think I would have ever had the courage to take the leap and follow my dreams.
Our son is also named Louie. I often refer to them as “The Louies”, so you will probably get used to reading that. Otherwise he is called “Lil Louie”, although as a teenager he is now much, much taller than me. We started taking family vacations soon after he was born. His first flight was to Scotland when he was 3 years old, and he loved it. He has definitely inherited a thirst for travel and adventure. Lil Louie will be doing one year of online schooling. We are both scared and excited to do this, as he has always been in public school.
We are a crazy, hilarious family. The things we do, the things we say, and the things that happen to us. . .we’re always up to some shenanigans. I know this trip will have many ups and downs, but I am so excited to do this with my family. And I am so excited to have you follow along with us.
